Arsenal made an impressive start to their Premier League title defence with a controlled 3–0 victory over newly promoted Coventry City at Emirates Stadium on Friday, 21 August. Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard scored as the Gunners claimed all three points.

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard added the third goal in the 49th minute to complete a polished team performance. His goal removed any doubt about the result and allowed Arsenal to begin their campaign with confidence.
The 3–0 scoreline reflected Arsenal’s superiority. They were sharp from the opening whistle and showed the level of consistency required from a team aiming to retain the Premier League trophy.
For Coventry, the defeat should be kept in perspective. A visit to the reigning champions was always going to be a difficult test, and their season will be judged more by results against teams around them in the table.
